BACK TO THE MUSICAL

I was lucky enough to see the show in Manchester twice. It was amazing. Some story points were slightly different to the original movie, but we got to see things from a different viewpoint, as well. All the original soundtrack really immersed you into the nostalgic memories and feelings you had of seeing the first movie, when you were younger. The new songs were fantastic. I really wanted to get up and dance. At some points, I felt I was actually in the movie, my eyes watering at the most emotive scenes in my childhood memories. It is a must see. So, of course, I had to see it all again in London. The stage is smaller, but the impact is just as impressive. I am hoping to go again in September. A fan or a new viewer, not only your kids are gonna love it. So be there or be square. History has changed.

THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

This is absolutely brilliant. Just like the film but on stage. The cast is perfectly blended and matched again like the movie. You will come out and want to go again and two bits stand out. The first time the car gets to 88mph. It blows your mind because you don’t expect it in the perfect quality and style it is. Then 15mins from the end I can’t tell a lie the theatre made a loud gasping noise and everyone was like oh my god (in a good way) and I was in tears it was that magical and intense it actually made me a 41 year old cry in amazement and just the pure magic of the last 10mins. Think theatre with magic and massive illusion with a great story and music and your gonna fall in love all over again. Definitely rewrites theatre and musicals as we all know it. Brilliant brilliant brilliant

SO SO SO SO GOOD

For anyone who loved the film this is a must see. I can’t remember a more brilliantly realised musical adaptation of a movie. What a show!

Mind blowing, truly amazing affects, a must see for any fan or anyone,

BRILLIANT

This was just great fun. I read some professional reviews that the score was a bit lacking, and I guess a few of the songs were just so-so, but overall we were highly entertained. It generally follows the storyline of the movie with a couple of tweaks and some scenes melded together due to the limitations of a stage performance. But if you loved the movie, you surely can't fail to love seeing it all unfold in front of you on stage, hearing the songs from the movie, and witnessing the frankly astonishing effects. How do you make a car go 88mph on a stage? I recommend you go to see for yourself! I've shown my kids the movies, which they really enjoyed, and they were equally as impressed as I was

BRILLIANT NIGHT OUT

Great show made me feel happy. Cast were excellent, well staged, music and effects were so good. The whole audience were up on there feet , felt like we had a great night out.

JUST BRILLIANT!

I can't recommend this musical highly enough, it was absolutely fantastic. The view from our seats from the front row of the Upper Circle were great and good value if you don't want to spend too much. It was so good we booked to go again the day after seeing it! (dress circle this time so we can see the expressions better) My 12 year old loved it too. The cast, staging, songs, effects, everything was brilliant. If you love the film, you'll love this show.

MAGNIFICENT! A SPECTACULAR TREAT!

This is truly a show you do not want to miss! From the outset, the cast do an amazing job of capturing the character’s mannerisms. The sets are wonderful, the effects are stunning, and the songs, both familiar and new are great. It helps to know the story, you may not fully understand the plot if you don’t, having said that, this is a sight for all to enjoy. There was one unexpected feature - the comedy. Sprinkled throughout the play, little nuggets of comedy gold. Wonderful. For any Back To The Future fan, do not miss this piece of spectacular theatre. I left wanting to watch it all again. Just stunning.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT AGAIN

I originally booked to see the show in Manchester. 2 days before I was due to see it covid stopped me! I have just seen it and it was well worth the wait. It was fantastic!!! I have seen many shows but this was the best. The characters of marty and doc were fabulous but George McCoy was outstanding! I don't know what the critics were talking about I wouldn't change any of it! I hope it runs for a long time because I need to see it again. I cried, I laughed, I was astounded at what they could do on stage with the car! If you like the movie you will love this. Thank you for a fabulous night of pure fun and entertainment

BACK TO THE FUTURE THE MUSICAL

04/16/2022 Hello, I'm Jean-Pierre "JP" Maurey-Delaunay and this is my review of my new West End show: Back To The Future. Based on the iconic 1985 film, Back To The Future: The Musical, arrives in London for audiences to experience the classic on stage. Now I have alot to talk about so stay tuned, first the performances: 1. Olly Dobson was fantastic as Marty I was blown away by his voice, he reminds me of Aladdin because he is always getting into scrapes and finding friends, I thought he sounded a lot like Micheal J. Fox only slightly lower. 2. Roger Bart raises the roof as Doc Brown, his talent and energy that he brought to the character was second to none, he reminds me of Genie and Timon (hint: Roger was the singing voice for Disney's 1997 classic: Hercules, that's the only project I know of him) because he is very funny and energetic and just keeps the audience laughing throughout the whole show 3. Shane O'Riordan nails it as the show's villain, Biff Tannen, I felt like he looks alot like Thomas F. Wilson from the film although, the show's Biff was less muscular, but he was an amazing singer, he reminds an awful lot like Gaston from Beauty And The Beast because he is told no by the one thing he wants which is Lorraine, so I really saw some similarities between the two. The songs: 1. Teach Him A Lesson sung by Biff and his gang, I thought that was a full on villain song because it really shows his hatred towards Marty and what was really funny was that he got some phrases wrong such as: "Heads He (Marty) wins and tales I Lose!" and "A man he won't regret". 2. It Works sung by Doc Brown, it was a brilliant song Roger Bart sung it really well, he had really amazing dance moves at the start of the song and I liked the part Marty says "who are the girls?", To which Doc responds "I don't know, they just show up everytime I start singing!". 3. Something About That Boy sung by Lorraine and Biff, this song to me was like a step-into-Disney universe because it has a classic chase scene only in this chase it is set in the school and Biff is not covered in manure but spaghetti and Marty uses a Star Wars reference that hints he is from the 80s (much to Biff's confusion). 4. 21st Century sung by Doc Brown, this song reminded me of music of Wreck It Ralph because of it's electronic sounds and drums, which I thought were good, also at one point in the song there two things that I noticed hint to Back To The Future Part II and Part III. The setting: 1. I thought the way the clocktower moved was great when it switched to the Delorean taking center stage. 2. The Hill Valley High School was brilliant when it moved around on a circle to show we've gone to a different location of the school. The Delorean was to die for it was brilliantly designed and when Marty goes back in time there is some animation on the curtain and back to show the movement of the car, and I loved how it flew over the audience I mean how does it do that?! Come and see Back To The Future The Musical you'll have a great night!. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

CLASSIC 80S

29/05/2022 I attended Back to the future musical at the Adelphi theatre , I had trepidation concerning the interpretation. The lead role actor had all Marty Mcflys nuances mixed with his own personality, but for me the show came alive when Marty Mcflys dad entered the musical . His portrayal boarded on mesmeric, his timing his poise and sheer brilliance brought the show to life . The sets may be basic yet easily suited the style of the show , the smooth change from scene to seen smacked of true professionalism. There were even a few references to other films Lucas had a hand in ie star wars. As for the Delorian stunning effects used specially at the finale when it flies into the audience. There are plenty of comical moments to keep it light hearted . We'll worth a visit .

BACK TO THE FUTURE THE HIT MUSICAL

05/23/2022 Hello, I'm Jean-Pierre "JP" Maurey-Delaunay and this is my review of my new West End show: Back To The Future. Based on the 1985 film, Back To The Future: The Musical, arrives in London for audiences to experience the classic on stage. There's alot you'd expect from this show, like the classic George-Punch-Biff scene and the timeless icon: The Delorean I wasn't expecting alot of applause from an audience!. Now I have alot to talk about so stay tuned, first the performances: 1. Will Haswell was fantastic as Marty I thought his performance was indescribable, he looks to me like a young Han Solo. 2. Roger Bart raises the roof as Doc Brown, his talent and energy that he brought to the character was second to none, I love the part where he says "who's vice president, Daffy Duck?". 3. Aidan Cutler nails it as the show's villain, Biff Tannen, I felt like he looks alot like Thomas F. Wilson from the film, he was an amazing singer. The songs: 1. Teach Him A Lesson sung by Biff and his gang (only 3D and Slick, Match doesn't appear in the show), I thought that was a full on villain song because it really shows his hatred towards Marty and what was really funny was that he got some phrases wrong such as: "Heads He (Marty) wins and tales I Lose!" and "A man he won't regret". 2. It Works sung by Doc Brown, it was a brilliant song Roger Bart sung it really well, he had really amazing dance moves at the start of the song and I liked the part Marty says "who are the girls?", To which Doc responds "I don't know, they just show up everytime I start singing!". 3. Of all the West End shows I've seen, I like this one more. Come and see Back To The Future The Musical you'll have a great night!. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT

Wasn't sure how they were going to make this into a musical stage show but anything I imagined was far exceeded by what I experienced. This was a masterpiece of theatre production, fantastic character portrayals, especially George McFly who absolutely nailed it, and brilliant and very clever special effects and staging. If the movie was ever of any interest to you then this will not disappoint. Thoroughly recomend it.

INCREDIBLE

My 2 children and I absolutely loved this flawless production, particularly the mind blowing scenes involving the car. Incredible

GREAT SCOTT!

This was one of the most visually impressive shows I’ve ever been to. I’ve just come back from seeing it at the Adelphi in London. Wow! Congratulations to all the cast, musicians and set crew! I want to see it again! My standouts were George McFly, Doc and Goldie Wilson - sorry, I don’t know their real names. Look them up, on stage 5 January. Incredible!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

We took a punt on the restricted view seats in the Upper Circle - seats D3 and D4. Yes we couldn't see a small corner of the stage below us but it honestly didn't take anything away from us thoroughly enjoying the production. The special effects are incredible and the cast were superb. For the princely sum of £19.85 our tickets were worth every single penny! Highly recommended.

JUST …. WOW !!

I have never ever watched a show and thought - I would happily pay to see that again - don’t care if I see it the same day…. I want go back and relive it. I’ve seen some of the best that London has to offer. But BTTF left me slightly shell shocked - it was like the movie but in 4D. I expected they might have a Delorean on stage, but I never expected to see such an awesome spectacle. The effects are truly incredible - but the characters and performances even outshine those - and I found myself getting emotional at times - which doesn’t generally happen to me. Even when it felt a little cheesy - I appreciated it because they have kept it true to the overall feel of the original film. Theatre is meant to make you laugh, cry and be wowed…. Mostly To leave the theatre feeling happy. BTTF the musical does all of the above and I couldn’t stop smiling - I was buzzing when I left and walked into the sunshine on Saturday afternoon. The only thing I want now is a sequel - bring it on.

A GREAT TIME HAD BY ALL

A fantastic show, the staging and effects are the best I have seen in any production and the cast do a fine job. No real stand out new songs, but the story is so iconic that it didn't matter.

BACK TO THE MEH.....

Just been to see Back to the Future: the musical, I left at intermission. I was sat in row K31, the sound system sounded shrill and shrieking during the singing....I wound up getting a massive headache and decided to leave at intermission before my ears started to bleed. I also struggled to hear the performer's singing and dialogue (especially marty) the stage design was amazing though, as was doc brown. and the car/flux capacitor!

BACK TO THE FUTURE MEETS HIGHSCHOOL MUSICAL

I'm a big big fan of the movies. The cast was great shame it's mimed way too many songs it reminds me of highschool musical which my kids made me watch and I'm still having nightmares from

NOTHING SPECIAL EXCEPT SPECIAL EFFECT

The ensemble cast really let down the quality of the production. Dancing lacked the wow factors and many of the dance routine were let down by the cast simply going through the motion. The songs were okay, but there were no amazing stand out songs that you would expect to find in a musical. The special effects were amazing as we're the stage sets.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT PPL LOVE

We went, we saw, we didnt like it. I don't understand Standing ovations, happy reviews, but... for what? The special effects are seriously good, no doubt about that... and maybe ppl remember only the last 1/4 but the first 3/4 were terrible. Slapstick, Puns, unmotivated dancing and singing scenes that just didn't realy make sence and worst of all the acting. Marie's voice was not made for this, Doc Brown came across like the square sad on le that does wired stuff. The only singer that actually pulled any good notes was Goldie Wilson. The other issue we had was that the movie and its soundtrack is based on rock and roll, whereas the stage show feels more like an 50ies show movie. If you can't get the rights...dont do it! What would Mama Mia be without Abba? We sat thouth it, but I would have prefered to spend my money better.

MAKES A MOCKERY OF AN ICONIC FILM

If you love this film you will hate the show! I was so looking forward to seeing this show, yet from the moment the curtain went up all it did was make a mockery of this much loved film. The writers should be ashamed of themselves. The cast whilst singing and dancing put their all in to the show, yet whenever they used parts from the film they made a joke of it. This show should have been so much better. They truly have let themselves down. DO NOT SEE THIS AWFUL INTERPRETATION IF YOU LOVE OR MAY BE EVEN JUST LIKE THE FILMS.

1.0 star rating Unhappy percy from London, England

AWFUL

Never been so bored with a show, if it wasn’t for the fact that the sound was so bad and so loud. I would have fallen asleep. How can you make an iconic film become a slap stick parady. Leave at interval. Don’t waste your time and money going to see this show.

1.0 star rating from London, England

MUSIC DIDN'T BLEND WITH THE PERFORMANCE OR STORY LINE.

Ok I was looking forward to this show but it went down hill immediately once we had found our seats. The theatre in London had terrible upper tier seats. Extremely vertical and to high so after about 15 minutes you had neck ache. I found the musical side totally disjointed to the story line ( which was limited). The volume was another issue, so load it wasn't pleasant. The only thing that was good were the stage setting performance and some special effects. We left at the half time interval. The only thing that was back to the 80's were the seats. Extremely small and uncomfortable. We constantly had knees in the back of our head. Basically all round feelings was disappointed with performance and venue
