FANTASTIC BUT .....

Overall fantastic show seen it many times singers were brilliant, only downside is you can't get up and dance as you did in the past. Think would be a better experience if audience participation is allowed do came out of show a bit disappointed.

TRAFALGAR THEATRE

Went to see Jersey Boys yesterday. Show was very good but that's not what this review is about. The staff at the theatre couldn't have been more helpful. My partner has walking difficulties and without any prompting from us, one of the staff said our seats would mean a lot of stairs to negotiate; she went on to ask if we'd like to change. Thank you very much we said. During small talk with her about the struggles of our trip to get to the theatre - she said she would find out if there was an easier route for us to get home (Essex). True to her word, she came to find us in our seats and went through our best travel options. I wish I'd asked the lady's name but nonetheless, her advice was spot on and I'd like to say a big thank you.

SLIGHTLY DISAPPOINTING

Saw the show on Friday night, great theatre wonderful music and the singing was fantastic BUT the cast lacked energy and the performance was somewhat spoiled by the pauses they took in the dialogue, clearly waiting for laughs that didnt occur, which affected the pace of the performance Second half was better than the first !!!!

TWO OUT OF THE FOUR WERE MISSING

We had really looked forward to this show after seing them om television but were dissapointed both frankie and nick were played by understudies, don't get me wrong they were good and the show was very good but we should be told when we book the tickets if understudies are being used, it did spoil our night and we felt we were being seen off!! but then London is a rip off, shame on the theatre

DETAILS

I believe it's all in the details, and having seen the show in rehearsal and full play in several locations, I can definitely say that a few things could do with some work - for the London cast. One casting colleague also commented on how Nick Massi appeared to be from Liverpool, given the accent we were hearing. It was such a shame as the actor had been in the show a long time already..and this kind of thing should be licked before the curtain goes up in previews... the slightly narrower stage is also a slight shame, as it means Gaudio's 'oh what a night' scene take him 'downstairs' with a large portion of the audience 'losing' them - IF the stage right steps were used as in other JB productions (Chicago, Toronto & others) everyone would have a much more enjoyable view of them...and the story line would be clearer for first-time audience members. Some elements of rushing through the script, but a tourist-heavy audience can enjoy it over and over again!

DISAPPOINTED

Went to see this show on 3 May and although acting, dancing, singing especially, were superb why on earth did they only sing a couple of songs in full???? My friend and I were looking forward to hearing all the old songs again and every time they got into a number it was cut short!!!! We sat in the front row of the grand circle and our view was obscurred by the safety rail. I also thought that Frankie Valli and Tommy DeVito were excellent. But what a waste of singing talent that we never got to hear most of the songs that we love. Would only recommend it if someone wanted to know the story - don't go if you want to hear all your old favourites.

NOT AS GOOD AS EXPECTED

My wife and I saw the show yesterday afternoon and although we both agreed that the show was very good we both felt more than a little let down by the fact that hardly one song was sung all the way through, every time it got going it stoped for more story line. The singing and music was fantastic but it was ruined by far too much story line, even at the end we were expecting a medley of the hits (just like Buddy) but no nothing, we felt short changed.

What we thought

If you've seen it before, I recommend seeing it again to see how the new cast and theatre, and newcomers will delight in the sheer toe-tapping fabulousity of the numbers.

Even if you weren't a twinkle in your parents' eyes in the Sixties, Jersey Boys has plenty of catchy non-stop hits that you are bound to recognise.
