"I long to hear the story of your life, which must captivate the ear strangely."
Lending itself wonderfully to the medium of dance, Shakespeare's island-bound drama comes to London this autumn, courtesy of the Birmingham Royal Ballet and composer Sally Beamish. Enthralling and immersive, The Tempest is the tale of shipwreck and sorcery on a spell-binding isle, ruled over by the vengeful Prospero, and his unerring determination to wreak havoc on his former oppressors.
Shakespeare's final play, this strange tale is full of fairies, monsters and confused sailors who find themselves caught up in the most peculiar circumstances. Composer Sally Beamish has created a vivid musical landscape in which you'll lose yourself willingly as David Bintley's mesmerising choreography conjures up a the Bard's bewitching words, alongside spell-binding design from War Horse's Rae Smith.
