Liza Minelli has achieved a type of mythological status that plays tricks with facts and memory. The showbiz queen's reign has been so ubiquitous that it may come as a shock to fans that she did not, in fact, play Norma Desmond nor Grizabella. Now Australian drag queen extraordinaire Trevor Ashley will set this to rights with the ultimate tribute at the 2017 Underbelly Festival, performing Broadway classics in the guise of the icon.
No stranger to the Southbank, Ashley courted 5 star reviews at the London Wonderground in 2016. The tour de force performer has starred in beloved Australian musicals Hairspray and Priscilla, taking drag to new heights at the Sydney Opera House and renowned cabaret venues the world over.
