BBC’s Throwing a Musical Theatre Party This Sunday - and You’re Invited!

Forget EastEnders Omnibus - BBC Four has something special just for you!
Does your idea of a perfect night involve the show tunes of legendary composers against a sparkling set? Then cancel your plans for Sunday 18 May, because the BBC has been beefing up its schedule with incredible musical theatre specials. And this weekend, it's all about the mastermind behind Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, and Jesus Christ Superstar (just to name a few) - the man, the maestro, Andrew Lloyd Webber!
What's The Show About?
The BBC brings back Tell Me On A Sunday, the beautiful one-woman musical he created with lyricist Don Black. It stars the legendary Marti Webb and is backed by the lush sounds of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The show follows a young English woman navigating love and heartbreak in New York City - and includes some bangers such as "Take That Look Off Your Face" and "Unexpected Song."
The evening doesn't stop there. Stick around for a special celebration of Lloyd Webber's 75th birthday, then settle in for a heart-to-heart between him and Alan Yentob, chatting all about his life and autobiography.
How about two episodes of Showstoppers, packed with musical theatre goodness, plus a stunning encore of Cynthia Erivo's 2022 Proms performance? You can expect that too.
And if you're going all-in on your musical weekend, don't forget this year's UK Eurovision entry has some serious theatre credentials too, so there's truly something for everyone.
