Brilliant!
Excellent play with an outstanding performance of Damian Lewis and Keira Knightley! Absolutely brilliant adaptation combining modern characters with Moliere's 17th century original script.
Lewis's triumph...and FitzGerald's.
Though attention was directed at star Kneightley, in fact while more than capable, the honours are Lewis's...and Tara FitzGerald must not be ignored; she is forceful, Lewis mesmerising - one seeming aside about we in the audience mocked for rather being at the Tate Modern was hilarious (I met Lewis weeks later in the Donmar and, on my asking if he had improvised this he said, with trademark twinkle, "Shameless overracting"). To be fair, Knightley's character is a touch superficial...as is the importing of film talent driving up the prices. T'riffic entertainment nonetheless.
FANTASTIC
Great adaption of Moliere's Misanthrope, all people act fantastic in it. Especially Damian Lewis is brilliant. It can get annoying that the whole play is with rhyme, but I found it beautiful to listen to. It's a great story which make you think about your situation afterwards. Well done!
Spell-binding
My wife and I were enthralled by this production. We have been to some big West End shows already, but this was our first experience of a "proper" play. We bought tickets knowing little about the plot or Molière, primarily interested in seeing how Damian Lewis and Keira Knightley fared on-stage. But, in fact, we found the whole thing spell-binding. The dialogue was clever, sophisticated and witty, and the actors, primarily Damian and Keira, delivered it exquisitely. We loved it - it has whetted our appetite for seeing more productions.
Outstanding
A truly amazing show with a wonderful cast who deleiver an incredible preformance. The plays modern twist works very well. Would recommend it to anyone who loves the theatre as it is a play you won't forget in a hurry.
Wonderful
The whole cast were tremendous. Lots of attention of Keira but I have to say that Damian Lewis was absolutely brilliant in the lead role. I think they will storm the reviews next week.
