It's not often that you can say a play is perfection but 'When We Are Married' is just that! As the curtains were raised, there was spontaneous applause for the set before any of the actors had stepped foot on stage. The story is sublimely funny and is delivered by a dream cast with comedy in their blood. The real skill of such a talented team is not just comedy timing but authentic characterisation and joy in performance. Each of the lead parts are performed by masters of their craft and it would be impossible to praise one above another. Suffice to say the individual cameo parts, the scenes as a couple and as a group are faultless. There are moments of pure genius including Sam Kelly's transformation and Jodie McNee's wonderfully observed performance as Ruby. It is worth seeing the show just to see Roy Hudd's touching dance routine. We cannot recommend this play enough. If you are still worried about the Coalition cuts go and see this show. You will leave the theatre uplifted!

Great show, brilliantly played by outstanding cast. Very funny. Would definitely recommend. Only gave four stars because our seats had a restricted view.

Tired performance by a tired cast

Can't believe I watched the same performance as other reviewers as the New year's Day matinee performance was extremely dull and the "stars" certainly didn't shine or even twinkle. Perhaps all those "extra" performances - I recently heard there were 10 shows over the Christmas week - took their toll as the whole performance was laboured, without many laughs and the entire cast look as bored as the audience sounded ! Not good value for money and with such potential was very disappointed so hope this limited is run just that.
