bah humbug

Don your favorite festive jumper, say "Bah Humbug!" to the winter blues, and celebrate Christmas in London during the Alexandra Theatre's production of A Christmas Carol. Adapted by Mark Gatiss and directed by Nottingham Playhouse's Adam Penford, 2023's edition sees Keith Allen take to the stage as Ebenezer Scrooge himself!

What is the story?

The show-stopping classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy but thoroughly disagreeable miser, who spreads displeasure wherever he roams. Set one fateful Christmas Eve, Scrooge declines an invitation to dinner with kind-hearted nephew Fred, choosing to ignore the delight and warmth of the Yuletide season with an early bedtime.

But when the ghost of his old business partner Jacob Marley appears to him with foreboding news of three more unearthly visitations, Scrooge must weigh his earthly actions and face the consequences of his greed and selfishness. A festive fable that still hits close after 176 years, Charles Dicken's Christmas masterpiece teaches us about the power of redemption, community, and compassion and how it's never too late to change your ways.
