MAUREEN LIPMAN'S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT

Beloved British actress and writer Maureen Lipman turns her capable talents to directing, in this stage adaptation of the charming 1979 comedy TV film. A world premiere production, the original show was written by Jack Rosenthal, and celebrates a truly British tradition; that of the all-seeing black taxi driver, and four people who are desperate to join the trade.

The Knowlege follows four Londoners in their hilarious and touching struggle to better their lives by joining the respected black taxt trade; the infamous "knowledge" test is one of the hardest in the world to study for, but these guys are determined! Between them and success (plus their new vehicle with green badge) stands "The Vampire", otherwise known as Mr Burgess. Eccentric and difficult to the extreme, he is the biggest obstacle to joining the ranks; however, he is determined to keep the standards of the test to its highest.
