Scottish Ballet has reached new heights with this double bill
The Stage
Scotland's national ballet company presents a double bill programme that showcases two awe-inspiring and very differing works of dance on this visit to London's Sadler's Wells. Emergence, choreographed by Associate Artist Crystal Pite mimics a literal hive of activity, where the 38-strong corps de ballets transform into insectoids; the second work MC 14/22 by Angelin Preljocaj celebrates the male form through a series of biblically themed vignettes. Cruelty, passion and masculinity are perfectly displayed by the corps of 12 dancers.
In recent years, Scottish Ballet has become arguably one of the most talked-about dance companies on the international circuit, especially so following the huge triumph of their adaptation of Tennessee William's iconic novel, A Streetcar Named Desire, which has been both critically and popularly acclaimed in the USA.
