With a backdrop of an absent father, negligent mother and her unkind eighth-grade classmates, Shelby Hinkley has developed a dedication - or even obsession - with Spiderman, the biggest movie of 2004. However, when her leadership of an online fan club fails to fulfill her desires, Shelby makes a daring decision: to pursue love by kidnapping Spiderman star Tobey Maguire, in an effort to bring him home and marry him.
A true noughties comedic romp, I'm Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire is a high-energy portrayal of our imagined connections and the obsessive tendencies that cause them to unravel. Written by Samantha Hurley, the comedy heads to the Southwark Playhouse Borough this summer following a sold out run in New York last year.
