The Mousetrap Reviews

NICE PLAY
I have seen this play about 8 years ago. I was only 14 years old when I saw it, and my english wasn't that good yet. Though I enjoyed the play and venue. A lovely old theater and the play was even interesting for me and my younger brother who was at that time 11 years old. I have very good memories about watching the play.

FUN THROWBACK
In an era where almost everything in the West End is a show-stopping musical with set changes, costume changes, music, this is a marvelous throwback - one set, no costume changes, old theater, play set in 1952 or so - and it's great. Yes, the plot has some holes and convenient coincidences, and yes, some of the acting can be a little hammy (although that is how the play was written), but it's also a fun mystery and well played out. I very much enjoyed it. If you're looking for something more traditional, kind of like a game of "Clue" more than, say, the Lion King (which is great in its own right) then this is the play you should go see.

BORRING BUT QUAINT
Not the most gripping of murder mysteries. Found the first 45 mins incredibly borring, so much so that we couldn't wait for the interval so that we could leave. However, we persevered. A very quaint little play ,however, quite annoying over acting in places especially by the character "Christopher" this may be in keeping with the era of the setting of the play. If you want a Miss Marple or a Poroit, forget it.

NOT MY CUP OF TEA
Love the theatre but this was a bit boring. I nodded off at one point. Not sure how it’s made 70 years perhaps it just not my taste. Personally I would not recommend.

SLOW AND DATED
My mum has always wanted to see the mouse trap, so for a Christmas treat I took her. We were disappointed, it was slow, boring and very dated. The acting was good apart from one actress, her acting was very bad and over the top. The only thing I enjoyed was watching a man in the royal box falling asleep then waking himself up with a jump, then carried on watching the play. That was entertaining. If you love Agatha Christie you will love this play, if not save your money or go and see a musical.

UNBELIEVABLY BAD ACTING
I suppose the plot is good, but the acting was so absurdly terrible that I could barely discern the quality of the lines underneath. The actors shouted and screamed their lines as if they had a race to see who would get to the end of the play first. They also over-acted in the most absurdly un-funny way, as if the whole play was a hilarious comedy instead of a thriller drama with a few subtle laughs in there. Disappointing and disheartening to see this play butchered being any and all recognisable merit.

LONG WINDED AND BORING
I was expecting a gripping drama of a who dunnit and was really disappointed by its lack of suspense. I also nodded off at one point as it just seemed to go on and on. The seats were very uncomfortable and leg room was very limited. The theatre has character.I expected a lot more from an Agatha Christie play and cant believe it has been running for so long! There was no change of scenery set either
