The Mousetrap Reviews

NO LEG ROOM AT ALL , AND MUSIC FROM NEXT DOOR
The show itself was ok but the theater wasn't good at all. We were on upper circle and the seats are extremely small. Unless you are a size 8 you will be touching your neighbour unfortunately. If you are taller than 5 feet you will have to put you legs sideway as your seat almost touch front chair . No room at all, uncomfortable hard seats . Secondly at some point we could hardly hear our own show as the music from next door was so high. During the show we can hear "macarena " song coming from another theater . It was so loud we thought it was part of our play but wasn't. Such a shame

OVER RATED
More a farce then a murder mystery. Exceptionally boring with lots of running about. I expected Brian Rix to pop up and drop his trousers. We’ve been spoilt by so many excellent well acted TV dramas. I guess it was fabulous in it’s glory early days. Not mature enough for 2023 audiences. The Americans seemed to like it. Says it all. Seats in upper circle were excruciatingly un comfortable. No leg room and I have short legs.

TEDIOUS WATCH
Booked this for a birthday surprise. Nice theatre but the seats in the upper circle were small and very uncomfortable. No leg room!! As for the play, in the first half the sound was not loud enough. Too much running around up one staircase and back round through another door. Reminded me of an episode of Fawlty Towers! After 5 minutes I’d had enough, I would have left at the interval if it wasn’t a birthday treat. The second half was no better although we could hear what the actors were saying. I’ve seen far better plots and performances at the local Am Dram productions. I don’t know how it has got to its 72nd year. Time to end the run in my opinion.

DIDN’T LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS…
I booked the play as my son is a very keen Agatha Christie fan. From the outset, the play didn’t really know what it wanted to be….a thriller, melodrama, comedy, mystery. In the event it was none of these things. A few camp laughs, no real suspense and for the most part terrible ham acting. My son was not impressed, and I and my partner were incredulous. I could have forgiven it if it were an amdram show, but a London Theatre play at that price…? The real mystery is how this play has kept going for so many years.
