Oedipus at Wyndham's Theatre

Starring Lesley Manville and Mark Strong!

Renowned director Robert Icke (known for his transformative adaptation of the Orestei), brings Sophocles' tragic ancient Greek play to life in a stunning contemporary light. In this modern makeover, hidden secrets of the past are pushed into the present, however, nothing can loosen the inescapable grip of fate.

Following smash-hit performances at the International Theatre Amsterdam and the Edinburgh Festival, Oedipus is headed to Wyndham's Theatre for a limited season starting from October 4th starring internationally acclaimed and multi-award-winning actors Mark Strong and Lesley Manville.

The story of Oedipus

Through an exploration of life's complexities and the difficult decisions we face, Sophocles' tragedy undergoes an intense transformation and is reborn into a thrilling human drama. The revamped story highlights the significance that behind every powerful man, is an even more influential woman. On the eve of election night, predictions of a sweeping triumph are on the tip of everyone's tongue, and an impending shift can be felt in the air...but will change truly occur?
