The Royal Opera House is a large performing arts centre and opera house in Covent Garden. The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House are based at the venue. For its first hundred years, the venue was mainly used as a playhouse, until 1734 when ballets were held there, and shortly after, operas. The main auditorium in the Royal Opera House is a Grade I listed building.

Located on Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of the West End, the Shaftesbury Theatre is the youngest theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. Bertie Crewe designed the theatre for brothers Walter and Frederick Melville. Since 1984, the Theatre of Comedy Company has owned the venue. In 2006 the theatre underwent a large-scale refurbishment on the interior of the auditorium, and it has hosted several revivals of musicals since its re-opening.

Located in St. Martin's Lane, the London Coliseum is one of the biggest family variety theatres in London. It was opened in 1904 and was designed by architect Frank Matcham with the intention of the venue being one of the finest music halls for entertainment. Until 1968, the venue was used for a range of events including film screenings, musical comedies, plays and variety shows. Sadler's Wells Opera Company (now the English National Opera) took over the venue in 1968, and along with the English National Ballet, the venue is used primarily for opera.
