Winner of Best New Musical!
Surprise surprise Hamilton won A LOT of awards at last nights Olivier Awards! After making Olivier history with 13 nominations, Hamilton managed to win seven of the prestigious awards. The list of awards included one of the biggest awards of the night, Best New Musical, with Giles Terera (Aaron Burr) winning Best Actor in a Musical and Michael Jibson (King George) picking up Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's production also achieved the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award as well as Best Theatre Choreography (Andy Blenken Buehler), Award for Best Lighting Design (Howell Binkley) and Best Sound Design (Nevin Steinberg).
The production, which opened at the end of last year, was one of the most anticipated openings of the year. Already the hottest ticket in town these seven Olivier Awards place Hamilton at the front of the pack not only on Broadway but now in London!
"The Greatest Show on Earth", one paper declared the other day. C'mon! But seriously folks, there's going to be more where that came from, because - lock up your doubters: I have to report that it really is as good as we've been told
