Red storms the critics!

Running through to July 28

John Logan's Red has received a rare revival this spring, opening last night (15th May) the production stars Hollywood star Alfred Molina and West End newbie Alfred Enoch and opened to rave reviews with The Times giving it five stars!

The Times praised Molina's portrayal of impressionist painter Mark Rothko, saying 'Alfred Molina is a force of nature as Rothko: furious, intense, solid and never wavering in his belief of what it takes to be an artist' continuing to also praise Harry Potter mega movie franchise alumn, Alfred Enoch, saying 'There is also a stellar West End debut from Alfred Enoch as Ken'.

The Guardian was also full of praise for the production saying 'the play offers an invigorating 90 minutes and shows Rothko's ability to paint the town his own sombre form of red' with Time Out concluding their review with 'Though in fact the true last scene is not a verbal one. It's a painting, spectacularly lit by Neil Austin, that looks genuinely alive, bars of black with two pulsing red strips of colour like a gateway to somewhere far beyond. It is more powerful than words'.
