From Page to Stage

First published in the Monthly Shonen Magazine from April 2011 to February 2015, Your Lie in April began as a manga from Naoshi Arakawa. A moving story of a grieving young pianist who rediscovers his passion for the instrument after meeting a free-spirited young violinist, the serial quickly won over readers, with some 5 million copies sold. It soon found its way to the screen in the form of an animated series (anime), followed by a 2016 live-action movie.

Anime - Japanese animation

Among the first manga musicals to hit the international stage, the show first premiered in Tokyo in 2022. Featuring a classical music-inspired score from Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn with lyrics by Tracy Miller and Carly Robyn Green and an English-language book by Rinne B. Groff, this limited staging at the Harold Pinter Theatre comes hot on the heels of an April 2024 concert staging at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Officially cementing manga on the West End stage, we're sure this will be the beginning of a wonderful run and inspire an exciting new era for Japanese stories to be told to a wider audience!

Now Showing until September 12th
