"Starlight Express' return to London has been an absolute joy for me. I knew immediately that we needed a cast album to capture this brilliant show. I am particularly pleased that Hydrogen' is one of our first singlesthis is a totally new track, written for this production as we reimagined the story of Starlight Express for the zeitgeist of 2024." Andrew Lloyd Webber
After opening at the Troubadour Wembley this summer, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical has been a huge hit with its exciting futuristic twist and is now booking through to summer 2025! Fans, mark your calendars - the cast album will be released on November 8th, with pre-orders available now!
Centered on a child's train set come to life, Starlight Express introduces us to a world where trains and coaches compete to become the world's fastest engine. Enter Rusty, a beaten-up old steam train. Can steam power triumph over diesel freight trains and speedy new electric engines? Rusty certainly thinks so!
First staged in London in 1984 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre (now home to Wicked), Starlight Express was an instant classic. With actors whizzing around the stage, singing the show's iconic songs such as the titular "Starlight Express," "Only You," and "I Am the Starlight," it offered a thrilling experience for audiences of all ages.
Although the London production closed in 2002 (making it the West End's 9th longest-running musical), the show found new life in Bochum, Germany, where it has been playing continuously since 1988, attracting over 20 million visitors.
