Running up that road, running up that hill

To see Stranger Things one last time! Friends don't lie, so we have to tell you - the gates to the Upside Down are officially closing. Stranger Things: The First Shadow will complete its journey through the theatrical multiverse later this year, with both the West End and Broadway productions set to close following their final extensions.

But it's not over yet; earlier this year, the Broadway production was professionally filmed for a future Netflix release, ensuring you'll be able to visit Hawkins again.

Goodbye, Stranger Things

The London production will play its last performance at the Phoenix Theatre on 27 December 2026 after an impressive run of more than 1,500 performances, while the Broadway staging at the Marquis Theatre will close on 3 January 2027.

Written by Kate Trefry from an original story developed alongside Matt and Ross Duffer and Jack Thorne, The First Shadow is set in Hawkins, Indiana, in 1959, uncovering the origins of some of the franchise's most mysterious characters and events. Under the direction of Stephen Daldry and co-director Justin Martin.

Since opening in London's West End in December 2023, the production has become a phenomenon in its own right, earning major accolades including the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play, two Olivier Awards, and Critics' Circle honours. Across the Atlantic, Broadway audiences embraced the show just as enthusiastically, helping it secure three Tony Awards during its run.
