Ranking Our Top 5 Hunger Games Districts

The Hunger Games: On Stage is on sale now!

Panem is not exactly a holiday destination. But if we're ranking the districts on where we'd want to live and how iconic its tributes are... some are clearly more desirable than others.

To celebrate The Hunger Games: On Stage being on sale, we're ranking our favourite districts!

May the odds be ever in their favour.

1. District 12

Set beside sprawling woods is the poorest district with the smallest population, with tributes so lethal that one had to be erased from history, whilst the other ended the Games.

Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, Haymitch Abernathy and Lucy Gray Baird are amongst its (all surviving) victors and tributes - but District 12 is defined by The Mockingjay, who burned the Capitol down with just a bow and a few berries.

She out-hunted, out-smarted, survived two Games and a war, and somehow made it look as easy as riding a bike. It's no wonder Katniss remains one of the most compelling protagonists in modern dystopian fiction.

2. District 11

Responsible for agriculture, District 11's nature (and we're not talking about its endless fields) is shown in sacrifice and loyalty. If District 12 is the soul of the story, 11 is the heart, and the driving force behind Katniss's narrative, propelling it from one of uncertainty to fiery determination.

One of the most memorable moments of the series is Katniss's alliance with Rue and her act of rebellion during her death in the flower scene. Thresh, another District 11 tribute, also shows Katniss kindness in the games. Without District 11, it is easy to wonder if the war against The Capitol would have ever taken place.

3. District 4

Known as the fishing district, its famous tributes include Finnick Odair, Annie Cresta, and Mags - all pivotal to the rebellion and reeling in the hearts of audiences.

Finnick wins at just 14 with a trident and later exposes Capitol corruption, whilst Mags volunteering at 80 - then walking calmly into the fog during the Quarter Quell to save her allies - is one of the series' most selfless moments. An underrated district, and perhaps the only Career district where you'd genuinely find a friend.

4. District 2

The Capitol's golden child. Built into the mountains and trained from childhood, District 2 produces tributes who are hungry to kill and get our adrenaline flowing. Cato, Clove, Enobaria and Brutus are living (soon to be dead) proof of the Capital's darkest brain-washing, and will stop at nothing to earn their victory, whether it be through knife-throwing or throat-biting. District 2 rarely loses and brings all of the high-stakes and entertainment with it!

5. District 3

Tick tock - it's a clock! The technology district shows us that these tributes don't overpower; they out-think, and there's a dark horse to be seen in all. Picked as Katniss's allies due to their seemingly meek nature, Beetee and Wiress prove that quick thinking can overpower a whole dictatorship faster than brute strength ever could.
