Cyrano is secretly in love with his cousin Roxane, but believes he is unworthy of her. When Roxane confesses she loves the handsome but inarticulate Christian, Cyrano agrees to help Christian woo her by writing beautiful love letters and speeches on his behalf. Roxane falls for the words, believing they come from Christian, while Cyrano is forced to hide his own feelings behind them.
