Excellent lead & stagework, quite confusing at times

The lead actor, playing Sherlock, was fantastic. He reminded me of Rik Mayall with his eccentricity and comedic timing. The rest of the cast were good, but I found at times people were speaking in various accents incredibly quickly and it was hard to follow the plot/subtext. Overall the plot had a lot of twists and turns as you’d expect from a Sherlock Holmes story, but slightly too many for me to follow! The use of props, smoke, music and lighting to create the environment of a flashback was superb. Overall a good evening out in a fantastic setting, I think it would be improved by slowing the pace down a touch or removing just one twist or turn.

Difficult to follow,

The open air theatre is worth visiting, the setting is beautiful, with clever staging, strong costumes, and an excellent Sherlock. However, the production is let down by an absurdly overcomplicated plot that’s hard to follow and leaves no room to think. It feels rushed, with some overly loud/shouty performances. Too many unnecessary scenes leave you asking, “Who is this?” and “Why does it matter?” Disappointed if I’m honest, and I normally love a Sherlock Holmes
