Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes at Open Air Theatre

Why see Sherlock Holmes?

A New Case!

Step back in time to Victorian London, where the world's greatest detective is back to take on a whole new case! Adapted from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's timeless tales, Joel Horwood (Ocean at the End of the Lane) is the writer behind an exhilarating new chapter for Sherlock Holmes at Regents Park Open Air Theatre, starring Joshua James (Andor) under the direction of Sean Holmes (The Merry Wives of Windsor, Pinocchio). With original music by Jherek Bischoff (Ocean at the End of the Lane), join detective Holmes on a journey to crack a case across London, along the Thames and, of course, right here in Regents Park.

What Is The Story?

As London expands exponentially in the late 1800s, Sherlock Holmes finds himself basking in the success of cracking his first major case. When a strange woman and an even stranger gem arrives at the doors of 221b Baker Street, Holmes and Watson will of course once again find conspiracies abound, leading to a pursuit which has the potential for deadly consequences.

Excellent lead & stagework, quite confusing at times

The lead actor, playing Sherlock, was fantastic. He reminded me of Rik Mayall with his eccentricity and comedic timing. The rest of the cast were good, but I found at times people were speaking in various accents incredibly quickly and it was hard to follow the plot/subtext. Overall the plot had a lot of twists and turns as you’d expect from a Sherlock Holmes story, but slightly too many for me to follow! The use of props, smoke, music and lighting to create the environment of a flashback was superb. Overall a good evening out in a fantastic setting, I think it would be improved by slowing the pace down a touch or removing just one twist or turn. ... Read more
