A powerful and topical meditation on the cost of war, Mothergun is the brainchild of Australian-born American playwright Christine Evans. Her award-winning works have graced stages throughout the US, Australia, Canada and the UK, and now this poignant new drama makes its European debut with the help of London-based theatre company Chaskis.
Taking their name from the Incan word for a highly-trained and physically fit group of messengers from the ancient civilisation, the company is the UK's foremost interpreter of works from the Americas, bearing new stories, practices and cultural perspectives across the Atlantic. Mothergun forms part of their Summer festival Las Americas Above.

Left to pick up the pieces after a fratricidal war ravages their lives, three survivors struggle to keep their heads above the mud and strife of their refugee camp, with the aid of an unreliable and cynical translator to preserve their fragile peace. A child soldier may lead the way to safety, but at a terrible price.
