Murder Ballad

Murder Ballad at Arts Theatre

Why see Murder Ballad?

A treacherous tale of love triangles!

An explosive and sexy rock musical is headed across to the West End this autumn, starring British-born Wicked and Cats alumnus Kerry Ellis alongside Ramin Karimloo. Follow the story of Sara, a young woman living on New York's Upper West Side, who finds that her past downtown threatens to draw her back into dangerous ways. A powerful tale of temptation and tangled love affairs, this will be lighting up the stage!

With a first-class creative team behind it, the musical was first conceived by Jonathan Larson Award winner and two-time Susan Smith at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2012-13. The book was written by Blackburn Prize finalist Julia Jordan, with lyrics and music written by singer/songwriter Juliana Nash.

The upcoming British production will be staged by Soundcheck Productions as part of their first season of shows; the company will be committed to staging theatre shows that are brand-new or haven't been staged in years, in order to encourage new talent both on stage, and behind the scenes.

I You could take your mum if she was not easily shocked, but there is no actual nudity, just simulated sex. We were in row D, so very close to the action. Music was a mixture of ballads and rock, and they belted them out. My friends and I came away with a buzz. Definately see it if you like a fast moving, full on musical whodunit. Cant recommend it highly enough. Don't miss it, ... Read more
