Why see The Golden Voice?

WHAT IS THE GOLDEN VOICE ABOUT?

Written by West End musical director and vocal coach Nick Fogarty, The Golden Voice sees Darren Day take on the role of fame-hungry singer Mike Chariot. After starting a band with his best friend Jim at their local youth club, Mike abandons his musical partner to audition for a popular TV talent show. His betrayal is sealed when he wins but alas, fame is not all its cracked up to be; Mike slowly realises that he is merely a puppet of the TV execs and record company. Once the media-frenzy dies down he is left with nothing and decides its better to fade away then return to his old life.

20 years later, Mike returns from obscurity to set up a musical school so that he might help young musicians succeed without TV talent shows. This quest to make amends brings him back in touch with the embittered Jim, who turned to a life of crime after the unceremonious breakup of their old band. Mike finally has a chance at redeeming himself while Jim now has the power to exact his revenge.

PLEASE NOTE

Due to financial trouble, The Golden Voice has been cancelled.

"It is with regret that we can confirm the intended new musical The Golden Voice will now not be presented at the Arts Theatre this summer. The producers have not secured the funds in order to produce it. We are now negotiating recovering our losses. It is a shame that this new work will not be seen at our theatre."

Executive director of the Arts Theatre, Mig Kimpton.
