Why see Rowan Live?

National Treasure Back On Stage

British national treasure Rowan Atkinson returns to the stage for his first comedy sketch show in 40 years! Before Mr. Bean, before Blackadder, before Johnny English and all the rest, Rowan Atkinson was performing absurd physical comedy live on stage, experimenting with outlandish personas that would eventually evolve into some of the most famous comedy characters in the world. Now he goes right back to where it all began, bringing back some of those classic sketches and beloved scenes from his wealth of timeless characters, as well as some brand new material written with his longtime collaborators Richard Curtis, Ben Elton and composer Howard Goodall.

Rowan Atkinson had been performing absurd character sketches and skits for tiny audiences in the 1970s as part of the Experimental Theatre Club, where he first began working with Curtis. Taking his show on the road and winning plaudits at the Edinburgh Fringe signalled his step up to TV and, with increasing success with the likes of Not The Nine O'clock News, Blackadder and then Mr. Bean, it was clear that audiences were witnessing a generational comedy icon. Having put the on-stage sketch shows to bed four decades ago, this is an extremely rare chance to see the man who has brought laughter to millions back doing what he does best, in person.
