Triple Bill

Jamie Lloyd and co have cooked up a unique new event paying tribute to theatrical iconoclast Harold Pinter for the tenth anniversary of his death - a whole season at his namesake theatre, dedicated to his one-act plays. Patrick Marber steps into the director's chair for this darkly comic triple bill led by Jane Horrocks, Emma Naomi and Nicolas Woodesen.

Over a five decade career, Harold Pinter rose to become one of our most influential playwrights with his biting wit and simmering menace contributing to 29 full length plays and 25 theatrical sketches. The Pinter at the Pinter season will delve into his shorter works, that despite their length, pack no less of that characteristic punch.

The Room (1957)
Pinter's first published work, The Room was inspired by a visit to the stuffy bedsit of friend Quentin Crisp. Comedic yet uncannily frightening as only Pinter can be, a seemingly mundane domestic situation becomes marred by sexual politics and violence over the course of a single day.

Victoria Station (1982)
In under ten minutes were taken on journey alongside a cab driver and the mini cab controller. Driver is meant to head to Victoria Station to pick up his next fare, but despite the cajoling of the Controller, he is not yet finished with his last passenger.

Family Voices (1980)
Three monologues form the basis of this epistolary play about a family attempting to communicate but getting a series of crossed wires.
