Man and Boy

Man and Boy looks at the career of Gregor Antonescu, a man who seems to have much in common with Citizen Kane and, rather more surprisingly in view of the fact that the play was written in 1963, even more with Robert Maxwell.

Why see Man and Boy?
Rattigan's Classic
The Crucible director Anthony Lau makes his National Theatre debut with this revival of Terence Rattigan's Man and Boy! With award winning actor Ben Daniels (The Normal Heart, The Crown) in the role of Gregor Antonescu and Evening Standard Emerging Talent award-winner Laurie Kynaston (The Son) playing his son Basil, this musing on moral corruption is based on the real life figures of businessmen Ivar Kreuger and Samuel Insull.
What Is The Story?
A ruthless businessman, finding his empire close to crumbling, tracks down his estranged son to use his apartment for a company-saving deal. Will the reunion help them reconcile - or is it just another weapon in the father's will-to-power arsenal?
