Why see Rules for Living?

STEPHEN MANGAN RETURNS

Stephen Mangan and Miles Jupp both star in this dark comedy of manners by Sam Holcroft, where an extended family gather for a long-awaited Christmas dinner. However, with each member trying to strictly adhere to their personal rules of what Christmas should be like, conflict is guaranteed to ensue!

Mangan and Jupp, best known as comedians, have most recently been seen in the West End productions of Jeeves and Wooster and Neville's Island, respectively. Jupp previously worked at the National Theatre in People. His credits include the acclaimed comedies Rev and The Thick Of It.

What is Rules for Living about?

A large family, a Christmas lunch, and a confined space is a recipe for disaster for even the most civil families. However for one, their Christmas meal takes a turn for the worst as each family member brings their greivances to the table (literally). Despite Mum's coping strategies, she becomes involved in a slowly boiling war of wills where rivalries get a proper airing for the first time in years, accusations fly and relationships disintegrate, so she decides for the sake of Christmas, it's time to implement The Rules.
