About A Whistle in the Dark

Murphy's A Whistle in the Dark is a gripping, ferocious drama about family, identity and the violence that can follow us across borders. Capturing the raw tensions of emigrant Irish life in Britain, it is a work that shook Irish theatre in its time. Michael Carney is trying to start over in Coventry with his wife Betty - but when his brothers arrive from Ireland, old loyalties and dark impulses threaten to pull him back into the chaos he tried to leave behind.
