General Onsale January 27th!
In a performance described as magnetic, spellbinding, and many other superlatives, Maureen Lipman returns to this revival of Martin Sherman's Rose. Originally premiering online during the Pandemic, this production, directed by Scott Lee Crass has enjoyed sold-out runs in Manchester and at the capital's Park Theatre. Now, Lipman once again gets to show she is one of our finest actors as the show makes its home at the Ambassadors Theatre this summer.
What is the story?
At its heart, Sherman's Rose examines the Jewish identity in the 20th Century and how it is woven by memory and retelling. The titular Rose (Lipman) recalls her life, from fleeing the Warsaw Ghetto to the United States, where the culture is less concerned about the Nazi persecution than the American Dream. Sitting Shiva, Rose free-wheels through tales of husbands, heritage, and history, detailing her own experiences as part of the Jewish diaspora.
