Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo - Programme A
Outstanding ballet dancing - in size 12 ballet shoes!
The years (and there are four decades of them) have only seen standards rise with the Trocks; the pointe work is more than commendable.

Returning to the Peacock Theatre, these guys are the darlings of the ballet world since their first sold-out performance in 1974 in a second story loft theater in Manhattans meat-packing district. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo have travelled all over the world, delivering a combination of knowledge of classical ballet with a wicked sense of humour. This is the first of two rep programmes for the Trocks, which sees them perform Swan Lake (Act II), The little Humpbacked Horse and the Verdi inspired pirate caper Trovatiara!
With an ability to hurtle through the classical ballet repertoire, they display an inimitable blend of skill, grace and a wit as sharp as scissors en pointe. What makes this different from other spoof troupes is that the dancers portray both male and female roles in a humorous style that combines ballet parody, posing and physical comedy with "straighter" pieces that aim to showcase the performers' innate technical skills, which include dancing en pointe.Once you get over the shock of seeing athletically built men in tutus, you will be astounded by the level of skill on display. From hardcore ballet fans to newcomers, the Trocks are ones to watch!
