Shooting Hedda Gabler

Shooting Hedda Gabler at Rose Theatre

Why see Shooting Hedda Gabler?

bringing hedda into the 21st century

Shooting Hedda Gabler is a loving take on Henrik Ebsen's 1891 classic "Hedda Gabler". Taking place on a Norwegian movie set in the midst of filming a screen adaptation of the play, an American actress jumps at the opportunity build her reputation when offered the lead role. However, she enters a world in Norway where Henrik, the exacting director, straddles the line between real-life and fiction. With everything captured on camera, the set becomes increasingly toxic as Henrik becomes obsessed with crafting a memorable conclusion.

Motivated by conversations stemming from the #MeToo movement, Nina Segal breathes new life into this century-old masterpiece, all under the skilled direction of Jeff James. At the forefront of the cast is Antonia Thomas (Misfits) as Hedda, with Succession's Christian Rubeck playing Henrik.
