Why see Tao of Glass?

Where Does Inspiration Really Come From?

Flights of fantasy, a puppet child and breath-taking moments of stillness. The music of Philip Glass has long inspired Director Phelim McDermott, who now joins forces with the legendary composer himself for their most intimate and meditative collaboration yet - Tao of Glass, which follows acclaimed works such as Satyagraha, Akhnaten and The Perfect American.

What's The Story?

Sparked by a dream, the piece unfolds as ten reflections on life, death and Taoist philosophy, intertwined with ten brand-new musical works by Glass. Guided by McDermott and brought to life by an ensemble of musicians and puppeteers, the evening moves between concert and theatre, story and contemplation.
