Stalking The Bogeyman

Make no mistake; this is not entertainment in the traditional sense. Instead. it is a fascinating study of human understanding, compassion, and grace.

Why see Stalking The Bogeyman?
David Holthouse's hardhitting play premieres in London
Based on traumatic true events, ex-Hollyoaks star Gerard McCarthy stars in this Southwark Playhouse premiere that examines motives for vengeance, the loss of innocence and eventual redemption. Inspired by a hard-hitting confessional newspaper article by American journalist David Holthouse (who also wrote the play with Markus Potter), Stalking The Bogeyman premiered in 2014 off-Broadway to critical acclaim and opened up dialogue surrounding child sexual abuse.
The story centres on one man's desire for vengeance against his teenage rapist, 25 years after the crime took place. Having buried the truth for much of his life after being threatened by his attacker as a child of only seven, David is horrified to learn that the an who destroyed his life is moving back to his neighbourhood - with his unwitting family in tow. Triggered by the memories of his assault, David plans to murder his rapist in retaliation for ruining his life, with the assistance of an Arizona gang, and criminal connections made during his career as a journalist. But when push comes to shove, can David pull the trigger, or will he find personal healing against the odds?
