Why see Heathers: The Musical?

Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has A Body Count

So very! The original mean girls of teen-movie stardom are back in this deliciously dark musical adaptation from Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy. Heathers The Musical first captivated audiences during a sold-out run in Los Angeles back in 2013. After smash-hit productions in London, New York and Melbourne, Heathers returns to London this summer for a strictly limited run of 52 performances.

What's The Story?

Based on the 1989 cult-classic, Heathers is the story of Veronica and her inner turmoil as she traverses a high school ruled over by an intimating trio of scrunchie loving dictators - the Heathers. Consisting of Heather Chandler, Heather McNamara and Heather Duke, they stalk the halls of Westerburg High with an iron fist, verbally and mentally destroying anyone who gets in the way of their carefully guarded hierachy.

But when the mysterious JD comes to class, Veronica may have found herself an ally in her hatred - one with murder on his mind. Pitch-black and racously funny, its a no-holds-barred look at the social strata of high school and the fate of anyone who might rally against it.

With a raft of songs including the infectious 'Candy Store', 'Prom or Hell' and many more, this bonkers adaptation is sure to have you rolling in the aisles, or if not, left with a finer appreciation of croquet.

Fabulous, funny and definitely not family friendly…

I loved seeing heathers the musical with my 2 best friends because it was so funny! I’ve said this so many times but it’s like mean girls became really unhinged and the burn book was swapped out for a body count. The humour was well written but not at all appropriate for the family of 3 sitting next to me. Honestly it was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen and I wish I would have the chance to see it again. Thanks! Hope this was helpful! ... Read more

AMAZING

The show is one of the most brilliant productions I have watched. Every song is a hit. Not a single actor stands out as being worse than the others. The simplistic set is outstanding. The lighting is phenomenal. The cast is all incredible. Some moments are genuinely heart-stopping; for instance, “Lifeboat”, the song in which Heather MacNamara confesses her thoughts of suicide, is incredibly emotional. JD’s character is extremely compelling and he has some ridiculously difficult songs; all nailed. ... Read more

A wonderful mix of heartache and joy

Though the theatre itself was fairly small in size, this did not impact the experience of the performance and certainly did not take away from the amount of pure talent on the stage. The show was impeccably cast and each character felt like they were meant to be in that role. Wonderful display of creative young talent which makes me excited for the future of musical theatre! ...
