Tiago Rodrigues' extraordinary and timely new play comes to London following its critically acclaimed world premiere, opening for a strictly limited run at the Young Vic theatre in January 2027! Set in the near future and focusing on humanity's travel to a new planet following a climate collapse, La Distance is a strikingly powerful tale of connection and parental bonds.
The year is 2077. Climate change has made the Earth an increasingly dangerous place to live. In search of survival and fresh hope, a group has left the planet to start a new colony on Mars. As a father stays behind on Earth, and watches his daughter launch into the stars, he will do whatever it takes to hold onto his relationship with her. Performed in French with English surtitles, La Distance examines the unbreakable bond between parents and children.
