Why See Bryony Kimmings: I'm a Phoenix, Bitch?
Who do we become after trauma?
Whilst 2016 raged on, smiting our favourite stars, birthing Brexit and further disappointment, Bryony Kimmings was facing her own anguish. Facing a catalogue of catastrophe in her personal life including the breakdown of her relationship and an extremely sick child, she found herself drowning, both figuratively and literally.
Leading Battersea Arts Centre's brand new Phoenix Season, Kimmings (The Pacifist's Guide to War on Cancer, Fake It Till You Make it) rises from the ashes of a devastating year with her first solo show in over a decade. A mesmerising blend of autobiography, storytelling, performance, and multi-media, I'm a Phoenix, Bitch is a dark, yet ultimately joyful examination of motherhood, mental health, trauma and the fight for survival.
Opening night: 3 October 2018
