The most beautiful instinct inside us all
Following numerous concert stagings, Broken Wings, written by Phantom of the Opera's Nadim Naaman alongside composer Dana Al Fardan finally gets its first full-length production in 2022 at the Charing Cross Theatre. Based on Lebanese-born poet Kahlil Gibran's compelling autobiography, it's a beautifully presented tale of love, longing, and loss that will resonate with all of us. Performed in the round, it promises to be an emotional, intimate experience, that'll stick with you long after you leave the theatre.
As the third-highest-selling poet of all time, Khalil Gibran is considered to be the Shakespeare of the Middle East. With his words transcending nationalities, politics, and geographical borders Gibran's famous humanitarian outlook is translated into this deeply heartfelt new musical.
What is the story?
The musical follows Gibran, now living in 1920s New York, as he reflects on his life experiences as an 18-year-old in the Middle East. Young Gibran falls in love with the daughter of a family friend, Selma Karamy. When Selma becomes betrothed to another, Gibran must fight for her love, with all he has.
