BEST MUSICAL STILL

I first saw Chicago in the first week prior to reviews with Ruthie Henshall and I loved it. I've seen it once locally and I took my American visitors to see it last Thursday in London and I loved it as much as the first time. It has everything - superb music, choreography and dancing. It's funny and fun and you leave feeling great!

WONDERFUL

Have seen it twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fantastic choreography and the men in our party just drooled over all those long legs and fishnets! It just oozes with fun, wonderfully witty script and just all-out gutsy music. If you want a lively, quality show where you leave feeling great then this is the one for you.

Seen Chicago 4 times now and seeing it again in November, have to say saw it at the Cambridge Theatre and it was absoluteley fantastic the whole cast were brilliant and very entertaining to watch. We do actually know one of the cast but even if they were not in it we would still have enjoyed it as much we would recommend this Musical as it is far the best.

ANGELA

My friend and i were recently doing a little christmas shopping in London when we decided to gp and see this production. We were both thoroughly entertained from begining to end. We were there 16/12/09. In my opinion Velma made the show really entertaining although all of the cast were exceptional. Fantastic.

NOT EXPECTED, SO GOOD...

Not a musical type, but a friend (FA from Chicago...) proposed it. We were on row 1 in the middle (matinée 6 nov 2010). Amazing! Who were Velma, Roxie, Hunyak? (Viven Carter? Sarah Soetaert? Rachel Muldoon?). Chapeau !!!

SEE IT!

I absolutely adore the London production of Chicago. Many of the current cast (Vivien Carter, Jasna Ivir, Terence Maynard, Marina Abdeen, Lisa Norman, Chantelle Carey) are people I would choose as my Dream Cast :) Vivien Carter deserves a proper mention: she is a phenomenal actress who is by far and away, in my opinion, the best Velma Kelly ever. Her stage presence is unmatched even by 'Theatre Greats' like Ruthie, and the way she plays Velma is incredible. Her acting, singing and dancing abilities are flawless, and I can confirm that, after seeing her, four times, she just gets better and better.

WOW AND FANTASTIC!!

This musical was by far the best i have seen to date. It may be a long runner but the steam has not run out of this production.I took my mum as a birthday treat and WOW it was just fantastic! The fast pace and outstanding performances from all of the cast was just mind blowing! The energy has you on the edge of your seats. A must see!!!!!

THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING

i wrote a review of this show earlier today but it didn't come up in the right place! Here we go again! I would recommend this show to anyone who wants a feel good evening out. The three main stars were great (Darius, America and Amra-Faye) were all strong. The tunes themselves just put you in the mood and the humour is great too. No bad American accents either which is always a bonus. I purchased the ticket last minute without knowing who the stars were, I was not at all disappointed. I left the theatre wanting to tap-dance and jazz- hand all the way home. FABULOUS.

VIEW OBSCURED

i saved for ages to take my wife to see this as it was a suprise anniversary present , what we saw of the show was excellent , the problem we had was our view was obscured by a very tall and very rude man , who would not sit still and constantly fidgeted and when he saw my wife crying he asked what the matter was and his reply was not my problem and laughed , needless to say it ruined the day for her and i was furious , the stall seating is good but the gradience of the floor is poor and im sure opther people will have this problem , next time i will be buying upper circle seats , and i am determined to take my wife again to see it properly.

VERY ENTERTAINING!

I saw the show on May 27, 2009 and the character of Roxy Hart was played by an actress named Michelle (I've forgotten her last name). I thought the show was wonderful. I think my husband thoroughly enjoyed the skimpy costumes, since he's not much of a theater-goer. The singing was fabulous and the dancing was equally good. We were on a vacation to London and had originally wanted to see Wicked but when we saw discounted tickets for Chicago at the TKTS booth, we bought them. We had a great time and we highly recommend the show!

CHICAGO.GARRICK

friday.6 jan.12.this was my 1st visit to theatreland.i was stitting at the rear right hand of stalls, before the show even started i realised visibility was awful, there are pillars in the way and even with someone of normal height in front, i had a third of the stage obscured.several people in this area quickly moved as the show started, i waited until the interval before moving.the show was excellent, gorgeous girls. comedic with powerful singing.i was dissappointed that america ferria had finished her stint as i booked when she was still in show, but the regular stars were superb.look at seating plan before booking garrick.

ACTORS PERFORMANCES WERE SPECTACULAR

Saw the show last night with a group of friends, I hadn't ready any current reviews but since it's a West End constant, how bad could it be? The performers were very good, how they dance, sing and talk at the same time is phenomenol. The only criticism was having the musicians on the stage meant that the performers had to work in really 'cramped' conditions, this really didn't work for me or my friends. It would have been so much better if they had room to move around and use the space. Granted we were in the cheap seats, but there were substantial parts of the stage obscured, it interferred with the enjoyment. If buying tickets make sure that they are in the centre of the theatre and not in the wings

NOT THE CHICAGO YOU'RE LOOKING FOR

If you’ve come to London to enjoy great theater, this production of Chicago isn’t it. How very, very disappointed we were. Casting strong leads who can command a role is so very important in a musical production like this, and the producers clearly got this all wrong. Velma was anything but sultry, and Roxie was (and I’m being kind) at least 10 years too old for the part – perhaps never having had the looks, pipes, or emotive capability for the role. Big Mama was a lifeless, stationary stump. And frankly, the entire cast gave wooden performances, clearly disengaged from one another. No feeling, no “magic,” and no connection with each other or the audience. Technically excellent, they hit every note with precision . . . and a total lack of feeling that left the songs ringing hollow. The one (and only) bright point in this production was the excellent chorus; these young men and women are still on their way up, and they performed like they intended to get there.

VERY AVERAGE

I had great expectations for the Chicago musical. My wife and myself went to the matinee showing on Friday 10th October and I have to say it was disappointingly average.
