Why See A Gala Celebration of Gilbert and Sullivan?
Trailblazers of their time
Blow out those autumn blues with this fantastically pitched celebration of the iconic duo, with some of the best operatic talents and a 26-piece orchestra taking on their singular repertoire. Teaming with an utterly unique blend of surrealism, brilliant wordplay, outrageous characters and glorious songs, expect to hear excerpts from favourite works including The Mikado, HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and many more.
With their first joint effort premiering in 1871, the creative partnership of dramatist W.S Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan came to dominate the era, eventually birthing 14 comic operas. From romance to satire, their light and melodic style appealed to all ages and continues to influence to this day.
