Voices Of The Amazon

A show that enchants as much as it impresses

A NEW UK PREMIERE!
An enchanting and poignant ballet by choreography award winner Helen Pickett, this new work by the Sisters Grimm follows up their hugely successful production Inala, which featured the dulcet tones of the Ladysmith Black Mombasa choir. Now moving the action to the lush rainforests of the Amazon, we follow a desperate water sprite who ventures onto dry land in order to find a cure for her sick sister. But to her despair, she discovers that the forests are diminishing at an alarming pace, making her odyssey a dangerous one.
Like Inala before it, Voices pays authentic tribute to the culture it portrays by collaborating with musical artists from the region in which it is set; combining ballet, contemporary dance and the martial art capoeira, the music is provided by Brazillian percussion artists Olodum, together with songwriters from the country.
