An atmospheric tale of shipwreck and sorcery, The Tempest takes place on a spellbinding island ruled by the vengeful Prospero and his unerring determination to wreak havoc on his former oppressors.

Deep Azure lands at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, marking its UK premiere. Written by the late, great, award-winning Chadwick Boseman. Known best globally for his work as an actor in films such as Black Panther and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Boseman was also accomplished as a playwright, with 2005's Deep Azure nominated for a Jeff Award for its drawing on the rhythms of Hip-Hop, the traditions of spoken word and the influence of Shakespearean verse. This new production is directed by Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu (For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy), making his Globe debut as a director.
