A TERRIFIC MUSICAL FOR GROWN-UPS

I saw this towards the end of the previews on 17 October. Did not have great expectations, but was I blown away by it. A truly moving story, great sophisticated lyrics by Tim Rice and music which really grows on you. I will certainly be getting the cast album when it comes out. All the cast were good, but Rebecca Thornhill and Robert Lonsdale were outstanding. It really deserves to be a hit.

FANTASTIC EMOTIONAL SHOW

Yes this is a grown up show with grown up themes, and no it is not suitable for young children. Why some of the reviewers are surprised by this Heaven knows! Even if you haven't seen the film, the synopsis makes it fairly obvious! We went Saturday matinee on 12 October. The cast were fantastic, the direction and choreography were fantastic. The score was great and we are still singing Thirty Year Man. Both my husband and I were 'balling our eyes out' all the way through the Finale! If we wanted to be critical, Mr Marquez (Captain Holmes) opening dialogue was too fast and we couldn't understand it and some of the flying in meant lights were swinging long into the scene. Tim Rice and the cast deserve a good run with this show and we wish them all the best for Opening Night!

BEST SHOW EVER

I would recommend this show to anyone. It was the best musical I have seen in a long time.

BRILLIANT

I was not sure what to expect after reading some reviews for this show, but have got to say it was really enjoyable. Some of the scenes were fantastic, a really talented group of actors and singers. Give it a chance - it is really worth a visit, I am already planning a second trip with other family members

FROM HERE TO ETERNITY

4 of us travelled down to London for the Wednesday Matinee, the audience was a mixture of ages including a couple of teenagers. The show was fantastic and in some parts emotional. The only cast member I reconised was Darius - that tall guy off Pop idol or something like that. His stage presence was excellent as was the main man (don't know his name)belting out songs with such passion. The pearl harbour scene was unbelievable. Very well put together show. I was not disappointed

LOVED THIS!

I saw From Here To Eternity in October 2013 and I loved it. The music and songs are instantly memorable and I found them still in my head days later. The cast are wonderful and portray the story so well, especially the four leads. The Pearl Harbour attack scene is simply stunning, it left a lot of the audience with tears in their eyes (including me) as it was so moving.

EPIC LOVE STORIES

FHTE is an epic love story - scrap that, it's two love stories - set against the back drop of Hawaii in the build up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. This is a cleverly written show - albeit with some pacing issues (I saw it in its first week of previews so it was to be expected)- with a talented cast and memorable and catchy tunes (I'm still humming Fight the Fight days after seeing it). The lyrics are clever and what we come to expect with Tim Rice providing the show with a bigger heart (just listen to "I Love The Army")... The cast perform the show with great skill - most notably Darius Campbell, Robert Lonsdale, Rebecca Thornhill and Siubhan Harrison. But it's Ryan Sampson who really stood out for me - his character, Maggio, having a lot of heart, humour and being instantly likeable. The show could do with a couple of tweaks to increase the pacing but, on the whole, this is a show that should run for a very long time - it certainly deserves to.

RAUNCHY, EARTHY ABD FUN

Excellent choreography, catchy tunes and a really good cast. This is a musical strictly for adults broadly following the original movie. There were some fine performances probably with Maggio stealing the show. Still humming 30 year man and the bluesy song by Malden and Prewitt. Well worth seeing.

LOVED IT.

I loved it. Saw it Tuesday 15th Oct. Still at previews stage. Well worth seeing. Sat beside a girl that had seen it the week before and even in the week it had been changed here and there. And she was back for a second viewing. I hope to see it again in the next few months. Saw a few shows in the few days. Lion King. Wicked and We will rock you and this one rates right up there too.

AN EXCITING EXPERIENCE

Really enjoyed it. I went with my parents to see it, worth watching again! The songs are catchy and they have portrayed the 40's well. Overall an original musical and a very exciting experience. Would love to see it again! I hope it goes far.

EXCELLENT SHOW

To be honest we booked this show because the ones we wanted to see were fully booked..... But we thoroughly enjoyed it. Darius was brill and Robert Lonsdale was amazing !!!!! Not a show for children but then if you know the film you wouldn't take them. Singing was brill and slow motion was amazing. Thank you for entertaining us.

SLOW START GREAT FINISH

We had great seats and the Shaftsbury Theatre is a wonderful venue. The show has some problems in the first act. It's a slow starter so those who didn't stay after intermission really missed the performance completely. The key problem was the actress who plays Karen Holmes. She is not likeable in the role at all - you can't muster up any sympathy for her and the gratuitous near-nudity seems forced and contrived. Her performance aside, I liked the play and the music. I thought all the other characters were well-cast and truly enjoyed the second act. If you go be patient... It's worth waiting out the slow start.

VERY ENJOYABLE

This is a more adult theme with some tasty language but I did enjoy it. Its not a les mis but what is? There are some very strong parts to the show and a rousing ending. I hope it does well as the theatre wasn't full last night (21 dec).

THE F WORD USED TOO OFTEN.

I enjoyed the show 'From Here to Eternity' the story line was believable romantic and tragic, with some great music, but I felt a little uncomfortable with the amount of times the 'F' word was used in this production. I felt the swearing was over the top and for this reason I would not take my mother or children under 16 to see it.

DISAPPOINTING!

As a massive theatre goer I was so looking forward to today, but this was sadly the worst, most disappointing show I have seen. Some great talent, but it just didn't seem to work

DISAPPOINTED FROM PINNER

A very disappointing Birthday treat. To many bullying sceens, weak story dragged out too long. Band, too loud drowning words from singers, singers had lovely voices when we could hear them. What a waste of my pension. So much to see in London our bad luck to book this.

FROM HERE TO ETERNITY

The cast, voices, acting were all very good - but the musical score, songs, dance routines, stage set were forgettable. Even in very sad plays & shows there are some lighthearted moments but not here. I feel that the cast have been let down. The story did not translate to a musical.Much more could have been made of the romances & the invasion. It was all very repetitive from one scene to the next.

DREARY BORING MUSICAL

Some friends and I went to see From Here to Eternity on the opening night and all agreed it was the most dreary boring production we have ever seen. The songs were instantly forgettable, the dancing was completely lacking sparkle and the whole setting was very drab. The use of the F word was completely over the top and unnecessary and we were all extremely pleased when it was over!

1.0 star rating Bren. from London,

BORED OF BRENTWOOD.

This was so disappointing. It lacked class. All the potential was there,to make it memorable....and it was,for all the wrong reasons. The 'lavish' sets were dominated by beds being constantly moved about. It was more Pickfords, than Pearl Harbour.

1.0 star rating Christopher from London,

DISSAPOINTED OF PIMLICO

Such a disappointment. The only staging worth seeing was the bombing of Pearl Harbour. The songs were instantly forgettable. The acting was amateurish..in fact at one point it was like a school production. The language and swearing were unnecessary..they ought to warn people not to take children to see it. I was so looking forward to seeing it. I give it six months at the most.
