MORE PARTY THAN PANTO?

I'm not sure children would make much of this version. Its nearer to standup from the 3 leads than a proper story telling panto. Some classic slapstick, 1 good special effect and willing dancers. But it lacked pace or plot and looked like a production on a shoe string.

JACK AND BEANSTALK

Last year I was lucky to see the panto at The Palladium before it closed; it was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately this year the show was cheesy with too many riskier jokes and a disjointed show which did not work for me. The best performance was from Alexandra Berk who is a great singer and whilst some bits were funny I won’t go back to The Palladium again.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK

Not for a family, at all. The humour is base, crude, lumbering with references to semen as ‘yogurt’, sexual promiscuity for homosexuals and breast feeding adults in the first 30 minutes alone, when we left. A lot of the crows were over 50, from out of London and Openly hostile towards children. The set was very good, but there is little flow to the show, it stops for various monologues which offer little comedy value or otherwise

AWFUL, JUST AWFUL, WE LEFT HALF WAY

What a complete waste of money. We were so excited about this show that promised a lot. Loosely connected to the story, however the context was just vulgar, constant jokes about semen, breastfeeding adults, sexual innuendos which were not funny. I found it disgusting, and more so because there were so many children in the audience who were really not enjoying it. Definitely don't bring children, its just vulgar show.

LEFT AFTER FIRST HALF.

Don't waste your money Totally unfunny, excruciating in parts, polite audience participation. Trying so hard to be PC and not offend anyone, it fell completely flat on its face. I went for my birthday, and had I not had a wonderful day up to that point, I would have been sorely disappointed. Will not go again, have been to previous pantos with Julian Clary, where I have laughed till my sides hurt. This year it was dreadful, I can't be any kinder then that. P.S The palladium is a dump it needs a total revamp, it hasn't seen a lick of paint in years.

DO NOT TAKE CHILDREN TO SEE THIS

I went as an accompanying parent with a primary school class. The theatre was filled exclusively with primary school children . I was horrified by this show (as were the other accompanying parents) . First it’s incomprehensible for children - Jack is a girl, Jack s mum is a bearded man, Jack s dad is a woman with a moustache drawn on etc. Even I as an adult was struggling to follow the basic plot. Even more shockingly for something advertised to children is that this show is very sexually explicit in the most vulgar distasteful way. Thinly veiled references to S&M, anal penetration etc A cow « comes » all over stage. I can t find a single good thing to say about this show. Acting was poor, it was visually displeasing, too loud, most definitely not funny. It is far from an « innocent » pantomime. The very worse theatre has to offer. Whoever rated this as suitable for children has a lot to answer for.
