It's an important story that I'm passionate about telling, and we intend to tell it with wit, warmth and, of course, a lot of singing and dancing!

Celebrate the tenth anniversary of Made in Dagenham! This inspiring and exciting musical comedy is based on the movie of the same name and stars the sensational Pixie Lott as Rita O'Grady and Killian Donnelly as Eddie O'Grady! Set in Essex in the 1960s, Made in Dagenham tells the story of a courageous group of women and their fight for equal pay in a world dominated by men.
Led by Rita O'Grady (played by Pixie Lott), the sewing room workers of Ford's factory in Dageham, Essex, are determined to fight for equal pay and proper recognition in the workplace when they hear that their salary class is about to be reclassified as "unskilled". However, they face unprecedented resistance from their managers, their union - and sometimes even from their own husbands.
With each other for support, they press on in their battle against sexual discrimination - balancing their incredible struggle with the unrelenting demands of their own family lives.
Made in Dagenham, both the film and the stage versions, is based upon the true story of the groundbreaking 1968 Ford factory strike, where 187 female workers went on a strike to end sexual discrimination despite being outnumbered by the male workers at 288 to one! Their actions led to the creation of the Equal Pay Act of 1970, and a huge step towards workplace equality for both sexes.
The film was originally going to be called 'We Want Sex' - a reference to one of the protest banners which read 'We want sex equality' when properly unfurled. Amusingly, on the day of the protest, it was not!
