Why See Elaine Paige?
First Lady of British Musical Theatre
Arguably Britain's best-loved musical theatre actress and singer, Elaine Paige is headed back to the West End this December for one night only, as part of a limited series of stripped-back concert tour in her first engagement since 2014, which marked her retirement from her full-scale touring schedule. Joined by a small band of musicians, Paige performs her favourite contemporary songs including works by the likes of Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Burt Bacharach, Leonard Cohen, Elton John, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, showcasing why she is the West End's most celebrated performer.
In addition to her stage career, which started in 1968 with her debut performance in Hair, she has been nominated for five leading actress Olivier Awards, with her most famous role as Eva Peron in the West End production of Evita between 1978-80 winning her sole gong. A prolific musical artist, she has recorded 22 solo albums with eight certified gold and another four multi-platinum, as well as appearing on at least seven cast recordings.
Performance date: 18 December 2016
