a quirky, quickwitted and touching musical miracle
The Times
After being the talk of the town and selling out when it premiered in 2023 at London's Kiln Theatre, the musical from the British duo Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York), is back!
Dougal is an endearingly naive Brit, jetting off to New York for his estranged father's second wedding. He's met by the bride's sister Robin, who epitomizes New York's relentless pace with no time for touristy charms. With the big day looming and the pair of strangers forced together, what might unfold?
Two Strangers' original incarnation, under the name The Season, debuted in 2020 to high praise from critics and won the Stage Debut Best Composer/Lyricist award following its runs at Royal & Derngate and the New Wolsey Theatre. With a new run at The Criterion Theatre under the direction of Tim Jackson, see why this endearing work is gaining all the plaudits!
